Research Subject

(1) To understand the fluctuation of nonequilibrium collective motion of atoms at the interface, where the friction takes place, we investigate complex conductivity of vortex lattice in superconductors (under/without driving bias). We also prepare samples with various pinning states (corresponding to various different states of the interface), and investigate the data in a comparative manner. This makes it possible to understand the relationship between collective motion of the atoms at the interface and the macroscopic behavior of the friction phenomena. (2) Based on these investigations, (A) we fully understand the friction phenomena at the interface from microscopic point of view, and (B) make explicit proposals to control micro machine/nano machines.
