Sendai is the largest city (one million inhabitants) in the Tohoku (East-North) region of Japan. It is located 300km north from Tokyo (only 90 min by Shinkansen, Bullet train). The city was founded around 1600 by Feudal lord Date Masamune, a legendary figure in Japanese history. You can find historical sites related to Masamune and his family such as Sendai (Aoba) castle ruin and Zuihoden mausoleum.

Sendai is blessed by nature and enjoys fruitful harvests from both land and sea. Fresh sushi and oysters are among the most famous Sendai specialties. Sendai is also famous for gyutan (beef tongue), which is grilled over charcoal and goes well with sake. You can enjoy great Sendai's cuisine.
