Research Subject

In systems in a far-from-equilibrium state, coupled effects of reaction and diffusion drive remarkable spatiotemporal dynamics. However, studies have been limited to homogeneous state of macroscopic states. Small-sized systems or active systems are subject to strong influence of microscopic thermodynamic and molecular fluctuations, which are largely unexplored. Such studies are also necessary to achieve understanding of biological phenomena such as cellular motion with membrane deformation and movement. In this project, we aim at creation of a field to achieve a breakthrough in dynamics of biological phenomena, through investigation of ordering in reaction-diffusion systems in small systems with deformation. For this purpose, we set up a team of four researchers from Univ. of Tokyo and Chiba Univ. We further construct a teamwork with other teams in this project and also collaborations with abroad teams.
