Research Subject

Recent developments in semiconductor nano-fabrication techniques enable us to fabricate artificial nanodevices which show single-electron and quantum effects. The nanodevices offer ideal experimental systems to explore the physics of fluctuations because the fluctuation of the electron transport becomes dominant in these small devices and the experimental parameters can be well controlled in such artificial systems. It also becomes possible to probe fast dynamics of single electron transport utilizing high frequency measurement techniques. We apply this new method to measure the fluctuations of electron transport in nanodevices and explore the physics.
