Research SubjectThermalization in isolated quantum system attracts many interests because it is one of important issues in modern quantum statistical mechanics. It has been actively studied mainly from theoretical aspects. Recently, on the other hand, it has become possible to experimentally prepared isolated quantum systems to observe the behavior of the thermal equilibration. One typical example is the cold atom system, which has a great advantage of extraordinarily high controllability of system parameters. This research method is referred to as “quantum simulation”, and has attracted great interests. In this research project, we will experimentally study non-equilibrium dynamics using cold atoms with almost integrability, and, in particular, we aim to study prethermalization behavior in isolated quantum systems. |
