Research Subject

For ultracold atomic Bose-Einstein condensates trapped by laser, internal spin degrees of freedom are not frozen unlike those trapped in magnetic field. Due to their large variety of internal degrees of freedom, such spinor condensates are expected to realize various kinds of topological defect that are hardly seen in other systems. Several defects are also expected to have topological interaction between them, giving rise to highly non-trivial dynamics. In this work, using a large-scale numerical simulations, I plan to research the collective dynamics caused by large number of topological defects having such a topological interaction and predict the novel dynamics of spinor condensates such as quantum turbulence caused by quantized vortices.
