Research Subject

We study theoretically and numerically quantum turbulence from the viewpoint of nonlinear and nonequilibrium physics. The systems we investigate are atomic Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) and superfluid helium. Firstly, we study multi-component BECs with multiple order parameters. Spin turbulence in spinor BECs shows the characteristic -7/3 power law in the energy spectrum, where spins show spin-glass like behavior. We reveal how the fluctuation of spins yields the cooperative spin turbulence. We study binary quantum turbulence in two-component BECs. An important goal is to find out the useful order parameters characterizing the transition of quantum turbulence. Secondly, we study the universal law in quantum turbulence following the ideas and the procedure of nonequilibrium critical phenomena.
